knitting stories

I tried to calculate how much time I spent this year on trains, busses, ferries, the (yellow) seats of friends' cars (from sunny Sicily to the snowy hill of Mustarinda in Kainuu, Finlan d) but I lost count at 248 hours.

measuring miles and hours in yarn

A bonnet in the color of the cloudy sky for Egle, who researches blue hour, wears a Pikuu Myy Moomin on her jacket and despises Finnish winter. Knitted in the first days of December 2024 while exploring Helsinki in drizzle ⛴️☁️🍵

Three colored scarf (memory of Mustarinda)
  1. The yellow lichens hanging on the trees in the forest around the house. A subtle strange color in the all-absorbing whiteness
  2. The sudden sparkling deep green of the forest when the snow melted for a day
  3. The always-cloudy sky

hat and scarf from an incredibely soft angora yarn from my grandmother. Dyed in a soft blue color using black beans during a long winter in Berlin.

my green sweater: woven into it are the 3 months and the distance from a Croatian island in the summer (the beginning of the thread) and the deep boreal forest in Finland. (the thread ends at Mustarinda house)

Naplaveno bag: knitted while walking the early summer fields in Naplaveno, Cz. Collecting the landscape in it: nettles, corn-flowers, a stone a shell..
and overnight, letting it soak all the colors in.

a red balaclava: knitted during the 2023 Prague Quadrennial (PQ talks on eco-scenography, performances and conversations)

landscape vest: the months spent researching weather for Tornado Watch.
